They predict that it will hold over 40% of the 8 million units of smart thermostats, which have grown considerably in popularity by home and business owners. These devices can sync thermostats to other devices, such as smartphones and tablets, making it easier than ever for owners to regulate, monitor, and control energy use and the temperature of their home or business.
The global smart thermostat market is projected to jump from 1.3 million in 2013 to 8 million by 2018, according to the study. Also by 2018, revenue from the WI-FI smart thermostat market is projected to reach $600 million. Technological savvy North American consumers responsible for the projected growth, who desire more technology to control the world around.
It is also estimated that European sales will outgrow those in the United States by the year 2017.
The study was called the Smart Home Research Service, and it studied market conditions based on technology used to control and monitor. Some of the automated devices are used for energy, appliances, health care management, and security, among automated home applications.
